Mullen has announced that it has acquired the North and South American IP and distribution rights for the DragonFLY K50 from Qiantu Motors and its affiliates. Under the license agreement, Mullen will be responsible for assembling and distributing the DragonFLY K50 in the Americas.
The DragonFLY K50 boasts a unique design with proportions and carbon fiber construction that make it both striking and timeless. Mullen will begin the process of redesigning and re-engineering the vehicle to meet homologation requirements for US certification and customer expectations for supercars. These changes will align with Mullen’s current vehicle design language as seen in the Mullen FIVE and Mullen FIVE RS. Additionally, the vehicle will feature an updated powertrain capable of reaching a sub 2.0 second 0-60 MPH time and a top speed exceeding 200 MPH to ensure it maintains its supercar status.
Chairman Lu of Qiantu Motors expressed his excitement about the partnership and the opportunity to bring the Qiantu K50 to the US market. He believes that the vehicle’s sleek design, impressive performance, and full carbon fiber exterior will make it a success in the US EV market.
Mullen’s CEO and Chairman, David Michery, also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership and the potential to create a supercar that rivals the best in the world. He sees this agreement as an important milestone for the company, settling a long-standing dispute and fulfilling his vision for a world-class supercar. Mullen plans to start the GT and GTRS programs on March 20, 2023.
